2. Can microcement indoor floor coverings be applied to underfloor heating?
Yes, but before applying microcement to underfloor heating a heating protocol must be implemented to prevent damage to the microcement due to cracking caused by changes in ground temperature. Care needs to be taken not to choose poor quality microcement, although microcement is a continuous coating that is highly heat resistant and should not crack, the higher the quality, the greater the resistance and the less likely it is to cause problems in underfloor heating.
3. How is microcement waterproof?
Although the microcement itself is not waterproof, the construction will be combined with the use of sealant, because the sealant is waterproof, so the final rendering of the microcement has a waterproof performance, and can be used in the bathroom, bathtub and other wet areas. The surface must be sealed with Topsealer (solvent-based polyurethane) or Topsealer WT (water-based polyurethane) to ensure its waterproofness.
4. Is microcement anti-slip?
It can be anti-slip. Depending on the type of microcement, the texture of the finished processed product and the amount of sealant used, any anti-slip effect can be obtained.
5. How is microcement cleaned and protected in the later stages?
Cleaning:
The best way to clean microcement is very simple, using neutral soapy water with water will ensure its long lasting life. Although the microcement material has a high tolerance to chemicals, direct cleaning with strong detergent products such as chlorine, bleach, ammonia and detergents should be avoided as much as possible, as this can damage the protective film on the surface of the microcement in the long term.
Protection:
Initial Care. Microcement can be walked on surfaces within 2-3 days of application, but great care should still be taken. The maximum risk period for microcement is within two weeks after application, reaching its expected hardness, chemical resistance and water resistance values one month after application. It is recommended to avoid dragging heavy objects on the surface to avoid damaging it. If there are metal posts or sharp surfaces in contact with the furniture it is advisable to make some protective surfacing.
Permanent Maintenance. It is recommended to regularly maintain the micro-cement pavers with acrylic wax. The frequency of waxing depends on the degree of wear and tear in the place and location of use, domestic interior use does not require excessive frequency.
To summarize, microcement is good or bad, but it still has some general characteristics, such as: waterproof through the body, extremely strong oleophobic hydrophobicity, fireproof, antibacterial, green and so on. No matter what style, home is your own, you should just decorate according to your own preferences and needs.
